More Than $125,000 Raised for Health and Wellness Needs of Area Nonprofits at Annual Gala Recognizing City’s Past and Present Visionaries
Kaufman Lynn Construction has been honored with a George Long Prism Award for Business Visionary by The Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton. The award, promoting Rotary International’s motto “Service Above Self,” recognizes the City’s visionaries who have elevated the community. Kaufman Lynn Construction received the award during the 3rd Annual Boca Raton Mayors Ball held at the Boca Raton Resort & Club on Saturday, October 14.
Presenting the George Long Award for Business Visionary to Kaufman Lynn Construction CEO and Founder Michael Kaufman were event Honorary Chair and former City Mayor Susan Whelchel; Boca Raton Mayors Ball Founding Co-Chair and 2017 Event Producer and Rotarian Jon A. Kaye and Boca Raton Mayor Susan Haynie. The award, named for the City’s first appointed mayor in 1924, was sponsored by Sklar Furnishings and designed by Tiffany & Co.
“It’s an absolute honor to accept this George Long Award, and to be recognized alongside a community of visionaries seeking to build a stronger, more caring support system,” said Michael Kaufman, president and CEO of Kaufman Lynn Construction. “Kaufman Lynn Construction will continue to lead by example through advocacy and by encouraging our team members to make a difference through philanthropic participation and activism. It’s an important part of our company culture.”
Since establishing itself as part of the community in 1989 with a mere team of 10, Kaufman Lynn Construction has grown into a multimillion dollar company, boasting 130 associates. With its growth came even more significant opportunities to make a difference. Today, Kaufman Lynn is proud to support a variety of nonprofit organizations including the George Snow Scholarship Fund, Florida Atlantic University, and Florence Fuller Child Development Centers. Kaufman is also a member of the Florida Council of 100, an organization of business leaders that serves as an advisory board to Florida’s governor.
The 3rd Annual Boca Raton Mayors Ball raised more than $125,000 for The Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton’s “Service Above Self” Grant Program that supports the health and wellness needs of the nonprofits serving Boca Raton and Rotary International’s program to eradicate polio. Additional “Chance to Win” proceeds collected will be donated to Hurricane Irma relief. Kaye reported that the club’s 2016 grants benefited 22 area nonprofit organizations requesting funds for health and wellness-related needs, education and programs.
More than 400 of Boca Raton’s civic, business, tourism, community and philanthropic stakeholders and visionaries – past and present – dined and danced the night away to the sounds of The Steve Chase Band in celebration of the City’s long, rich history.
