Temple Beth El Of Boca Raton Breaks Ground On Construction And Renovation Of Schaefer Family Campus

Temple Beth El of Boca Raton kicked-off the construction and renovation of its Schaefer Family Campus with a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, April 28. Kaufman Lynn Construction will oversee the $11 million project that is expected to be completed in phases with the first phase to be completed this fall and overall completion scheduled for late 2019.

The Schaefer Family Campus Phase 1 improvements will include renovation of the existing 5,597-square-foot sanctuary and 4,127-square-foot atrium. Phase 2 will include a major renovation including an expanded covered entry, lobby and welcome center, a new chapel and an adult learning center. The construction of a new two-story in-fill building featuring approximately 6,000 square feet of additional space in the existing courtyard area, renovation of existing banquet halls and the renovation of 3,000 square feet of existing office space will round out Phase 3 and the project’s completion.

The anticipated groundbreaking was the pinnacle of a three-year capital and endowment campaign, Fulfilling the Promise. The program included remarks by Senior Rabbi Dan Levin, Rabbi Jessica Spitalnic Brockman, Rabbi Greg Weisman, Bonnie Schaefer and Marla Schaefer. Special musical tributes were courtesy of Cantor Lori Shapiro, Cantorial Soloist Michelle Auslander Cohen and Teen Soloist Juliet Perel.

This new chapter for the synagogue and campus coincides with Temple Beth El’s 50th anniversary celebration.
