Max de la Cerda Honored with Craftsmanship Award

In an award ceremony on November 3, the Construction Association of South Florida (CASF) recognized Max de la Cerda of Kaufman Lynn Construction with the Craftsmanship Award in the Lath & Plaster category for his work on the Freedom Tower Restoration.

Max pieced together any salvageable elements and hand sculpted the missing pieces to recreate the original ornate gilded column capitols in the Freedom Tower ballroom. The Miami Freedom Tower is one of only 6 designated National Historic Landmarks in South Florida, and all work had to be done to meet the exacting standards of the City of Miami Dept. of Historic Preservation and the US Department of Interior Secretary’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.

Lisa King named a “Woman of Distinction”

Lisa King, Vice President of Business Development at Kaufman Lynn Construction was named a “Woman of Distinction” by the Boca Raton – Deerfield Beach Club of Soroptimist International. Lisa tied for the first place in the 2011 Women of Distinction award in the Volunteering division. The award seeks to honor the many outstanding women in the local community who give back to the community through leadership, volunteer, professional, and educational efforts.

City of Deerfield Beach Selects Kaufman Lynn Construction for the First Solar Project to be Installed on a City Facility

Deerfield Beach, FL –Kaufman Lynn Construction and its renewable energy division Kaufman Lynn Energy were awarded a contract to install a 14.9 KW Solar Photovoltaic System on the roof of the Deerfield Beach Public Works facility at SW 4th Street.

The project is funded through an Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). All major components of the system are manufactured in the United States. In addition to reducing the City’s energy consumption and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the project will also create jobs for local engineers, electricians and roofers among others.

Stephen Haskins Joins the Hospice By The Sea Foundation Board

Stephen Haskins, Chief Financial Officer at Kaufman Lynn Construction, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Hospice By The Sea Foundation. Established in 2008, the foundation is the philanthropic arm of Hospice By The Sea, a not-for-profit, community-based provider of hospice care, palliative care, caregiver support, bereavement counseling and home health agency services throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Haskins and his fellow board members will direct fundraising efforts in support of the mission and vision of Hospice by the Sea. Funds raised by the foundation offset the cost of patient and family services not reimbursed by insurance providers, enable facility renovation and construction projects and support overall operations.

Once Again Kaufman Lynn Construction Supplies Kids at Florence Fuller Center with Backpacks for the New School Year

Boca Raton, FL – On Friday, August 12, 2011 members of the Kaufman Lynn Construction Positive Workplace Committee, delivered 40 fully “stuffed” backpacks to the two graduating classes of five-year olds the Florence Fuller Child Development Center in Boca Raton, assuring that these children would start kindergarten with all the supplies necessary.

For the fifth year, employees of Kaufman Lynn Construction donated backpacks and school supplies for children attending the Florence Fuller Child Development Center in Boca Raton. Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, Inc. is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit offering affordable childcare, quality preschool, enriched afterschool and summer camp for low-income families.

“Back to Work” Event Draws Construction Workers from North Miami and Beyond

NORTH MIAMI – Kaufman Lynn Construction, selected to build the new Pepper Park Community Center for the City of North Miami, hosted a “Back to Work” job fair yesterday to solicit both construction workers and subcontractors residing in the City of North Miami.  Collating a team of qualified North Miami subcontractors from all construction divisions, as well as North Miami resident tradesmen seeking jobs due to displacement, this event was intended to pinpoint and secure experienced North Miami residents and resident firms with construction employment.

Long-awaited North Miami Pepper Park Community Center Breaks Ground

NORTH MIAMI, FL – The mayor of the City of North Miami, Andre D. Pierre, and Councilwoman Marie Erlande Steril addressed a group of elected officials, staff, business and community representatives during a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction for the long-awaited Pepper Park Community Center. Bruce Cavossa, vice president of operations for Kaufman Lynn Construction, who will oversee the construction team, said that the construction will create work opportunities for many North Miami residents. Kaufman Lynn Construction has committed to subcontracting 25% of the work to North Miami businesses.

Historic Cottage to travel through the streets of Boynton Beach

On Tuesday,  June 21, 2011 one of the oldests structures in Boynton Beach, the Ruth Jones Cottage, will move to its new location on the southwest corner of East Ocean Avenue and Southeast Fourth Street. The relocation and renovation of the historic cottage is part of a plan by to revitalize the city’s downtown area and is one of three projects Kaufman Lynn Construction is currently managing for the Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency.

The cottage is scheduled to leave its current location at the corner of NE 1 Ave. and SE 1st Street at 10:00 a.m.

Kaufman Lynn Construction Lends a Helping Hand

On Thursday, May 19 twenty five Kaufman Lynn Construction employees and family members joined staff and volunteers at Boca Helping Hands to serve dinner to needy families. The team prepared the food, served the meal, cleaned up, and worked in the warehouse organizing supplies. Of course, Kaufman Lynn did not come empty handed: employees donated 90 pounds of food, providing meals for about 60 needy

individuals in the community.

The Staff at Boca Helping Hands were grateful for the assistance and the Kaufman Lynn team looks forward to helping this organization again in the future.
